San Francisco cruise parking: where to park for Pier 27 and Pier 35
The Port of San Francisco provides no temporary or overnight parking at Pier 27 or Pier 35, and points cruise passengers to Metropolis at 55 and 80 Francisco Street, about an 8-minute walk from Pier 27. On 3 November 2026 Metropolis quoted $360.61, fees and taxes included, for the 16-night Ruby Princess sailing of 8 November 2026. BART's multi-day parking and two city garages are the other options.

You cannot park at the San Francisco cruise terminals. The Port of San Francisco says temporary or overnight parking is not provided at Pier 27 or Pier 35, and it points cruise passengers to Metropolis, which runs cruise parking at 55 Francisco Street and 80 Francisco Street. On 3 November 2026 Metropolis quoted $360.61 for the 16-night Ruby Princess sailing of 8 November 2026, with its service fee and taxes included.
Drop your passengers and bags at the terminal first, then park. The port says taxis and other vehicles may drop off cruise passengers at the Pier 27 terminal hall entrance.
| Option | Address | Price, checked 3 November 2026 | Walk to Pier 27, our measurement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metropolis, 80 Francisco | 80 Francisco Street, San Francisco, CA 94133 | $360.61 for the 8 November 2026 sailing, 16 nights | About 0.4 mile, 8 minutes |
| Metropolis, 55 Francisco | 55 Francisco Street | $360.61 for the same sailing | About 0.4 mile, 8 minutes |
| SFMTA North Beach Garage | 735 Vallejo Street, San Francisco, CA 94133 | $36 daily maximum, up to 24 hours | About 0.95 mile, 20 minutes |
| SFMTA Vallejo Street Garage | 766 Vallejo Street, San Francisco, CA 94133 | $36 daily maximum, up to 24 hours | About 0.9 mile, 19 minutes |
| BART multi-day reserved parking | BART-run lots at 35 stations | From $4.50 a weekday, weekends free | Ride to Embarcadero, then about 20 minutes on foot |
This site is independent, and we do not sell parking. We read each operator's own page, and the walking times come from our own routing check with OSRM.
Is there parking at the San Francisco cruise terminal?
No. The port's cruise page says temporary or overnight parking is not provided at the cruise terminals, and that covers both Pier 27 and Pier 35. It names one alternative, Metropolis, and tells you to book directly with Metropolis.
The port also says it gives that information as a courtesy and does not manage the lot. It asks passengers to confirm their reservation with the parking company before the trip. So any question about your booking goes to Metropolis, not to the port or your cruise line.
How much is cruise parking in San Francisco?
On 3 November 2026 Metropolis quoted $360.61 at either Francisco Street garage for the 16-night Ruby Princess sailing that leaves on 8 November 2026. That is the only cruise price we could read, so treat it as one example rather than a rate card.
Metropolis broke it down like this when we opened the booking page on 3 November 2026, without buying anything:
| Item | 80 Francisco, Ruby Princess, 8 to 24 November 2026 |
|---|---|
| Parking entrance | Sunday 8 November, 7:00 am |
| Parking exit | Tuesday 24 November, 2:00 pm |
| Price | $340.20 |
| Service fee | $20.41 |
| Purchase total | $360.61, which Metropolis says includes $72.12 of state and local taxes |
Spread over 16 nights, the $360.61 quoted on 3 November 2026 works out to about $22.54 a night by our arithmetic. We could not price a shorter sailing. When we went back to the event list, the page put up a security check, and we did not try to get past it.
So for a short Baja sailing or an Alaska cruise, open the Metropolis page yourself and price your own dates. The total depends on your entry and exit times, and the reservation we priced ran from 7:00 am on sailing day to 2:00 pm on the day the ship came back.
Where is the cruise parking near Pier 27?
Both Metropolis garages are on Francisco Street, a short walk inland from the piers. Our walking route from 80 Francisco Street to Pier 27 measured about 0.4 mile, around 8 minutes, and 55 Francisco Street came out almost the same.
The Metropolis page describes the location as Embarcadero parking within walking distance of Pier 33, the Alcatraz ferries and PIER 39. It does not mention the cruise piers by name. Pier 35 is the other cruise pier, and the port puts it 6 to 8 minutes' walk north of Pier 27.
What the Metropolis page said about the facility on 3 November 2026:
- Open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Well lit, with accessible parking.
- EV chargers, a vacuum and an air pump on site.
- Attendant or staff on site, and security patrols in the building.
The page did not say which of those points applies to 55 Francisco and which to 80 Francisco, and it gave no height limit or rate for oversized vehicles. If you drive a tall van or tow a trailer, ask Metropolis before you book.
How do you book Metropolis cruise parking?
Through the Metropolis page the port links, promo.parking.com. It has two ways in:
- Event parking. The page lists cruise departures as events, each with a Reserve Parking button. On 3 November 2026 it showed Ruby Princess dates from 8 November to 26 December 2026, each at 7:00 am. Picking a date offers 80 Francisco and 55 Francisco with a price for each.
- Daily parking. For any other date, a date picker asks for your entry date and time and your exit date and time.
Metropolis says prepaid reservations do not need a Metropolis account, and that existing members can drive in and out as long as they use the same vehicle and the card on file. The checkout asks for your email, name, phone number, license plate and card, so have the plate number ready.
The event list only covered Ruby Princess sailings in late 2026 when we read it. For a Carnival, Azamara or Regent sailing, or any date in 2027 or 2028, use the daily date picker. Then confirm the booking with Metropolis before you travel, as the port asks.
Do Princess or Carnival sell parking in San Francisco?
We found none. Carnival's list of cruise ports gives the Port of San Francisco's own cruise page as the parking link for San Francisco, with no Carnival parking product. Princess's San Francisco departure page describes the terminal, transfers and hotel packages and does not mention parking.
The lines leave parking to the port and Metropolis, so book it yourself and keep the confirmation with your cruise documents. Your line can still tell you your arrival time, which you need for the entry time on the reservation.
Can you park at a city garage near Pier 27?
Yes, the city runs two garages on Vallejo Street, about a mile from Pier 27. Neither SFMTA page mentions cruise passengers or multi-day stays, so ask the garage before leaving a car for a week or more.
| North Beach Garage | Vallejo Street Garage | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | 735 Vallejo Street | 766 Vallejo Street |
| Hours | Open 24/7 | Open 24/7 |
| Hourly rate on 3 November 2026 | $5.00 | $5.00 |
| Daily maximum on 3 November 2026 | $36.00, up to 24 hours | $36.00, up to 24 hours |
| Height clearance | 7 feet 0 inches | 6 feet 10 inches |
| Spaces | 180 | 160 |
Vallejo Street Garage says its rates come with no in-and-out privileges. On 3 November 2026 both garages also listed a $20 early-bird rate on weekdays, for entry between 4:30 and 9 a.m. and exit before 10 p.m., which only suits a day trip.
At the $36 daily maximum listed on 3 November 2026, the city garages cost more per day than the Metropolis quote above, and the walk is longer. They make sense mainly if you are parking for a few hours, say to see someone off.
Can you park at BART and ride to the cruise port?
Yes. BART sells single-day and multi-day reserved parking for stays of up to 20 weekdays, and its page gives airport travel as the example. On 3 November 2026 it said reserved parking starts at $4.50 a day at most stations, and that all parking is free on weekends and BART holidays.
The rules on BART's page, as we read them on 3 November 2026:
- Multi-day parking allows overnight stays only when you use BART to travel to your destination.
- You buy it on the BART app or website, up to 60 days ahead.
- Park in the reserved area. Your space is held until 10 a.m., and if the reserved area is full, you use a daily fee space.
- Daily fee parking, $3.40 a day at most stations on 3 November 2026, is for stays of up to 24 hours and is not meant for several days in a row.
- The page covers BART-run parking only. Milpitas and Berryessa/North San Jose stations are run by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
For the 16-night sailing of 8 November 2026, a Sunday, the car would sit through 12 weekdays. At the $4.50 starting price BART listed on 3 November 2026, that is $54 by our arithmetic, before the train fares. The price at your station can be higher, so check it on BART's page.
From any station, ride to Embarcadero, at 298 Market Street. The port puts Pier 27 about 20 minutes' walk from there, or you can take the F Market and Wharves streetcar to The Embarcadero and Sansome Street. SFMTA listed the F line from 7 a.m. to midnight daily on 3 November 2026. Our terminal guide has the steps.
The catch is the luggage. You carry your bags through two stations and onto a train, and BART says Embarcadero needs two elevators between the street and the platform.
Where do you drop off bags before parking for a San Francisco cruise?
At the Pier 27 terminal hall entrance. The port says taxis and other vehicles may drop off cruise passengers there, so one driver can unload everyone and the bags, then take the car to Francisco Street and walk back.
For Pier 35, the port gives no drop-off instructions. Follow the emails from your line, and check your boarding pass for the pier before you set off, because the two are separate stops on The Embarcadero.
Which cruise parking option makes sense?
It mostly depends on how long you sail and whether you live near a BART station. Hawaii sailings on our schedule run 15 to 16 nights, and that is where the parking bill grows.
- Metropolis on Francisco Street. The shortest walk, about 8 minutes, and the one the port names. You book a fixed entry and exit time, and you pay for the whole stay up front.
- BART multi-day parking. The lowest daily price we found, with weekends free. You carry your bags on the train and through Embarcadero station, so it suits light packers.
- City garages on Vallejo Street. Open around the clock and about 20 minutes on foot from Pier 27. Better for a few hours than for a cruise, at the daily maximum they list.
If nobody can drive you, a taxi or rideshare drops you at the terminal hall entrance and costs nothing while you are away. For the airports, our guide to getting from SFO, Oakland and San Jose to Pier 27 has the taxi rules, BART fares and the cruise lines' transfers. For a night in the city first, see hotels near Pier 27.
